This Sunday July 18, 2010, is the 6th Annual Reid's' Ride 28-mile Bike-a-thon in the Fight Against Cancers Striking Adolescents and Young Adults!!

Registration starts 6:30am, and cyclists begin departing at 7:30am from the parking lot at Lynnfield High School, to cycle 28 miles along a specified and well-marked route through Lynnfield, Middleton, Danvers, Beverly, Manchester and into to Stage Fort Park in Gloucester for festivities and prizes.

Says event director Lorraine Sacco, "Reid's Ride is organized by young adults to benefit the futures of those adolescents  and young adults diagnosed with cancer!  Everyone who wants join in this noble battle should be allowed to do so.  That's why we've made sure that Reid's Ride is an affordable event for all!
It is also a community event in which community organizations, local business, and citizens of all ages volunteer their time and services to making this event smooth-running, safe, fun, and rewarding for all."  Dunkin Donuts is a corporate sponsor, and will be on-site with its moble restaurant.  MIX 104.1 will also be on hand as well.

She continued, "I think it's important for the public to know that even in these tough economic times, our young adults are as resourceful as ever and are still changing the world in positive ways!  It is incredible how successful Reid's Ride has become, despite the recession.  We should recognize our young adults for their inspiring spirit and drive to make this world a better place!"

Those who want to ride in this year can register on-line at www.ReidsRide.org <http://www.reidsride.org/> .  Those who wish to make a donation to the event, or sponsor an individual rider or team, can do so using the same site.

Reid's Ride is a do-able, healthy, fun and affordable way to participate in the battle against young adult cancers. The ride has participants of all ages our youngest being 10 to our most seasoned 80 years old. It is the primary fund-raising event for the Reid Sacco Memorial Cancer Research Fund. That Fund supports clinical and scientific research targeted at finding better treatments-and someday a cure-for the cancers that predominantly strike young adults. The Reid Sacco Memorial Foundation is an organization of volunteers who are committed to raising funds and awareness to help change the fact that young adults with cancer have fewer treatment options and poorer treatment results than patients in other age groups. The Ride is tirelessly organized and run by Foundation volunteers, with the support of local community organizations and of both large and small businesses.
