Mission Statement
The Board of Health is charged with the responsibility of protecting the heath of the public by adopting health regulations pursuant to Massachusetts General Law. To fulfill its duties, it assesses the needs of the community and develops plans and implements programs to prevent illness and promote wellnes, while enforcing public health laws. This is achieved through community outreach with an emphasis on awareness, education and prevention. The Health Department's broad vision includes implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive plan, including such issues as immunization programs, reducing smoking amongst adolescents and appropriate regulations.
