Lynnfield Center Water District performing water main work

May 25 near Reedy Meadow Golf Course on Summer Street

NOTICE OF WATER MAIN WORK

Work to take place: On Summer Street near Ready Meadow Golf Course

Be advised LCWD will be working with Pyburn Construction to investigate and repair a leak in the water system on Summer Street in front of the Ready Meadow Golf Course entrance. This work will start today, Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at noon. Lynnfield Police will be on site to mitigate traffic.

This work may require a shutdown of the existing system. That will be determined once the area is excavated, and crews can confirm the condition of the pipe and components. Should a full shutdown be required, residents on Summer Street from Forest Hill to Todd Lane will lose water while others in this neighborhood will experience low pressure or discoloration. With a full shutdown, water loss will also be experienced at the Summer Street School and St Paul’s/Bethlehem School starting at 3:00 p.m. Under this scenario, water is expected to return to service between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Please visit our website at www.LCWD.US for up-to-date information.

If as a result of this work you EXPERIENCE PERIODS WITH NO WATER, POOR PRESSURE AND POSSIBLY DISCOLORATION OF THE WATER, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE WATER IS TURNED BACK ON, please see below:

DO’S AND DONT'S

  1. TURN YOUR COLD WATER ON FIRST AND LET IT RUN UNTIL IT IS CLEAR, preferably from an outside water spigot.
  2. Do not run your hot water or use your dishwasher until the cold water is clear.
  3. Do not use your washing machine–your clothes may become stained.
  4. Although the water is safe to drink, please avoid drinking the water if it is discolored.
  5. We do not recommend, but you may flush your toilet; however, when the water is turned on you will need to flush several times to clear the discolored water from the toilet tank.
  6. If you accidentally use your hot water while the water is discolored, you may have to completely flush the hot water tank to clear out the discoloration and there is a possibility that you may damage the hot water heater.
  7. Any questions, please call LCWD at 781.334.3901.
