This project will be reviewed and approved by the Planning Board, who will also discuss the Scenic Road Bylaw and how it pertains to the entrance of Summer Street School. Public Safety Departments have commented on the plans to date as well. The Building Inspector will also review all plans for code compliance and issue all pertinent permits prior to construction.

How was the location selected for the additions?

At HHS the only area on site where an addition can be located is at the end of the classroom wing. Other locations either have ledge, steep slopes or roadways and play areas that would cause a hardship both to expansion of the building and school programming.

At SSS the proposed location of the classroom wing will allow for efficient flow in classrooms and an expanded play area with contiguous green space and hardscape for play equipment. This is the only area of the site with room for these amenities and that does not impact school programming. It also assists in site drainage efforts.
