Minutes of March 17, 2008 Meeting
Called to Order: Called to order by Jack Dahlstedt at 5:30 PM.
In attendance: Joseph Bongiorno, Jack Dahlstedt, Wallace McKenzie, Joseph Piazza
Absent: none
Approval of Minutes: Minutes from March 3rd 2008 meeting were approved. J. Piazza made the motion. J. Bongiorno seconded.

New Business –
1. Discussion of school replacement – review of walk through of high school with school committee prior week. With increasing school population study space has been reduced for classroom space. . Current laptops in science department are used by students throughout the day and have additional capabilities for displaying information from experiments and linking with other instruments.
a. Most of the desktops at the high school have only 256 MB of memory and are 6-7 years old.
b. Review also examined proposed use of wireless capability for students and teachers. Setup would also allow students to bring own laptop but not connect to school network.
2. Update that all meetings have been posted and process for submitting minutes to town clerk.
3. Review of town network topology
4. Town Technology Committee to be added to town website. We will post minutes and pertinent information for community
5. Need to examine including planned 3,500 sq ft community center at Meadowalk to the town fiber optic network
6. Future computer purchases will included flat panel LCD not CRT monitors. Will save space and energy costs
7. Committee will develop a mission statement for review by Selectmen.
8. W. McKenzie to provide members with peer communities from Municipal Benchmarking
9. J. Dahlstedt will circulate spreadsheet on technology borrow proposal
10. Committee will also review leasing option for computers.
