Work Restarts on Beaver Dam Brook Culvert

Crews installing coffer dams at Beaver Dam Brook

Work has restarted on the removal of the Beaver Dam Brook culvert. Originally scheduled for the end of summer, higher than expected water levels had delayed construction until now. As shown in the photo, crews installed temporary coffer dams to allow the work to proceed. Measures are being taken to allow the brook to continue to flow to prevent upstream flooding during the project

Removal of the culvert under the MBTA railbed along Beaver Dam Brook through Reedy Meadow is proposed to mitigate flooding for surrounding neighborhoods. Brush and tree removal along the MBTA railroad bed from the Episcopal Church to Reedy Meadow was completed in August. The culvert construction project is now continuing at the site, weather permitting. Residents having further questions are asked to call Town Engineer Charlie Richter at (781) 334-9503.
