Stormwater Management - Bylaw, Regulations, Permit Application

Stormwater Management

Overview:  The purpose of the Stormwater Management Bylaw is to protect, maintain and enhance the public health, safety, environment and general welfare by establishing minimum requirements and procedures to control the adverse effects of increased post-development stormwater runoff and nonpoint source pollution associated with new development and redevelopment.

Proper management of post-development stormwater runoff minimizes damage to public and private property and infrastructure, safeguards the public health, safety, environment and general welfare of the public, protects water and aquatic resources, and promotes groundwater recharge to protect surface and groundwater drinking supplies.

The objectives of this bylaw are to comply with State and Federal statutes and regulations relating to stormwater discharges, and to establish the Town of Lynnfield's legal authority to ensure compliance with the provisions of this Bylaw through inspections, monitoring and enforcement.
