Trees - Recommended Shade Tree Planting List for Lynnfield

Here is the Conservation Commission's Recommended Shade Tree Planting List for Lynnfield residents and businesses. When you are ready to plant a new shade tree, or replace a damaged or fallen tree, take this list (attached below) to your favorite nursery or tree farm, or indicate your tree preference(s) to your landscaper or arborist. 

The list includes 14 native trees selected as those that will thrive best when suitably sited on Lynnfield properties. These are: White Oak, northern Red Oak, Shagbark Hickory, Silver Maple, Sugar Maple, Red Maple, American Basswood, Black Gum, American Sycamore, flowering Dogwood, Scarlet Oak, Yellow Poplar, Black Oak and Black Walnut. The attachment below also includes the planting information and specific characteristics of each tree, including height, spread, growth rate, Latin name, wildlife habitat, etc.
