About Us

A Healthy Lynnfield is a partnership between the Town Of Lynnfield, its residents, and a community-based 501(c)3 organization working hard to prevent substance misuse and to ensure those impacted have the help they need. Our mission is to empower residents to make positive choices every day. Together, we work to prevent substance misuse, improve the quality of life for those impacted, and to support programs that help all young people thrive.

Members of the town committee are appointed and represent different sectors of the community.  The committee was formed in 2017 as a response to the rising misuse of opioids, a public health epidemic impacting communities at the national, state and local level.  Since then, the town has received several grants, and a charitable organization governed by a local Board of Directors was formed to support the prevention work of the municipality. The town committee and the Friends of A Healthy Lynnfield work together to support community-wide behavioral health promotion and prevention.

In addition to appointed members, we have many volunteers, community partner organizations, town departments and youth that meet monthly to discuss implementation and direction of our community-wide prevention initiative. The committee meets the second Monday of each month from 9 to 10 either virtually or at the Al Merritt Media and Cultural Center.

With support from state and federal funding, the town employs a Substance Use Prevention Coordinator, an Outreach and Community Engagement Coordinator, a Youth Program Coordinator and a part time Family Engagement Specialist. Staff work to support the community’s goal of substance use prevention and behavioral health promotion; provide coordination, community outreach, and and educational resources for the community.
