As of this month, 135 residents have signed on for curbside compost collection from Black Earth Compost. Once the number of participating residents reaches 200, Black Earth CEO Conor Miller will drop the monthly collection cost for all Lynnfield participants. He will reduce it again at 400 participants.

“We are trying hard to incentivize residents to begin composting”, notes DPW Director John Tomasz. “Taking organic matter out of the trash stream is not just environmentally beneficial but provides the Town significant trash disposal cost savings”.

The DPW office has only 5 FREE 13-gallon Black Earth Compost starter kits left from the latest round of grant funding. These kits are free to residents that first sign up online for curbside Black Earth Composting at blackearthcompost.com .

Bring proof of your online sign-up with Black Earth and stop in to the DPW office during business hours to claim your free starter kit while they last. Kits include a 13-gallon green curbside bin, a 3-gallon kitchen bin and liner bags.
