Since the 2021 season, the Cross-Country team has held its Fall practices on the Commission’s Pine Hill Conservation Area loop trail.

In early 2019, Troop 48 Boy Scout and high school cross-country team member Michael Madden approached Director of Planning & Conservation Emilie Cademartori with a proposal for his Eagle Scout project to develop a cross-country trail in Pine Hill Lot. At that time, Madden pointed out that Cross-Country running is a sport for soft surfaces, but that unfortunately, Lynnfield was the only high school in the Cape Ann League that had to run its practices and meets on pavement. As all other schools in CAL ran partially or totally on soft surfaces, Lynnfield was at a disadvantage in team training for away meets. Today, runners and walkers can enjoy the near ½ mile loop trail within the conservation area's 9-1/2 acres of undeveloped forest.

The Lynnfield High School Cross-Country team participates in its first 2023 season meet – at home on September 13. The team is coached by science teacher and head coach Bill Wallace, and assisted by Joe Dibiase (ret.), and Dylan Rizzo.
