Meeting on proposed Summer Street improvement project

November 1 at 7 p.m. at LHS auditorium

The Town of Lynnfield is hosting an informational meeting for a possible Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) project for Summer Street on November 1, 2018 at 7:00 pm at the Lynnfield High School auditorium, 275 Essex Street.  Work for this potential road improvement project would span from Town Hall and end at Summer Street’s terminus at Salem Street.

The Town will apply for funds for this project through the Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) program which is a state and federally funded program administered by MassDOT.  If approved by MassDOT all construction work for these road improvements on Summer Street would be paid for through the TIP. This could result in approximately $10 million of state funds being available for this project.

At the presentation the Town and its consultant will describe the MassDOT TIP program and the scope of work for this potential project. Work for this project would include: roadway reconstruction; intersection improvements; pedestrian sidewalk and handicap accessibility improvements; drainage repairs; water quality improvements to the entirety of Summer Street; and the possible replacement of the Pillings Pond discharge culvert.

The public is encouraged to provide input at this meeting. Please submit any questions in advance via e-mail to Assistant Town Administrator Robert Curtin at rcurtin@town.lynnfield.ma.us. Please put as the subject line “Summer Street project.” Those without e-mail access may mail letters to the Town Administrator’s Office at 55 Summer Street, Lynnfield MA 10940. Please mark the envelope “ATT: Summer Street Project.”

In addition, you will be able to submit comments to the Town during the two-week comment period following the meeting (informational handouts will be located at the Town Clerk’s office and on the Town’s website).  All comments will be reviewed and considered into the design to the maximum extent possible.
