Event in support of Black Lives Matter movement planned for Monday, June 8

March will begin at LMS and end at common

A group of local residents has organized a peaceful event in support of the Black Lives Matter movement that will be held on Monday, June 8, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Participants will meet at the Lynnfield Middle School on Main Street and march from there to the Common, where there will be speakers and a period of silence in remembrance of George Floyd.

The organizers have worked cooperatively with the Town Administrator’s Office and the Lynnfield Police Department to plan a safe and peaceful event. Those attending are urged strongly to maintain social distancing, wear masks, and take other measures to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

During the march from the Middle School, the portion of Main Street between the Middle School and the common will be blocked to traffic. During the event, South Common Street will be closed to traffic as well.
