American Legion Flag Day Ceremony on June 14

The American Legion Lynnfield Post 131 2nd Annual Flag Day Ceremony will take place on Friday, June 14th, on the Lynnfield Common at the Meeting House. Our countries annual celebration of Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes on June 14, 1777. Following tradition, Lynnfield Post 131 will properly dispose of unserviceable U.S. flags collected over the last 12 months. Weather permitting, the ceremony will begin at dusk (about 7:30 P.M.) and is anticipated to last about 30 minutes. Our Lynnfield American Legion Facebook page has the latest information about the ceremony.

Eagle Scout Matthew Alphen has provided the citizens of Lynnfield with 4 unserviceable flag collection boxes. These boxes are located at the entrances of Lynnfield Town Hall, South Lynnfield Post Office, Knights of Columbus Hall in Post Office Square, and the Our Lady of Assumption office.

Post 131 invites all residents and all veterans to attend. We especially request that our Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Brownies join us for this patriotic ceremony.

Paul Donato, Commander,

The American Legion, Lynnfield Post 131
