Global War on Terrorism Welcome Home Bonus Online Application
Applicants now have the ability to apply for the Massachusetts Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) Welcome Home Bonus online. This is the most significant improvement to the application process in 100 years, since the Massachusetts awarded the World War I bonus in 1919. The process for the Veterans’ bonus has always been to complete an application and provide discharge papers. If currently serving, provide commander’s signature letter, city/town clerk’s validation of Massachusetts residency prior to entering the military, and the applicant would mail or deliver it in person. The online application allows applicants to submit the application online and upload supporting documentation. Currently, online application submission is only offered for the GWOT Welcome Home Bonus for service after September 11, 2001. The ease of applying online Should encourage more servicemember/veterans to apply for the bonus. As with the previous war time bonuses provided by Massachusetts, currently serving active duty servicemembers can apply for the bonus while on active duty and the online application will greatly benefit them.
