VA Bedford Healthcare System and SAVE LIVES Law

COVID-19 Vaccination Plan

You may have already heard the President signed H.R. 1276 “SAVE LIVES Act” into law. The law  allows VA to soon offer COVID-19 vaccines to more Veterans, including non-enrolled Veterans, as well as some spouses and caregivers of Veterans.

What VA Bedford is doing

We are waiting on guidance from VA Central Office on how this will be implemented. The referenced press release states that VA will conduct COVID-19 vaccination pilots at select VA medical centers to work out how we will register/enroll these individuals, along with scheduling, documentation, and data transmission.

What you can do

1) Share the following information with people who ask what VA Bedford is doing:  Veterans, caregivers, spouses, and CHAMPVA beneficiaries newly eligible under the law can go to www.va.gov/covid-19-vaccine to register and indicate their interest in receiving a vaccine from VA. Signing up will also give users regular updates about VA’s vaccine rollout process. Interested individuals can also watch VA Bedford’s social media channels for updates. Our user name for both Facebook and Twitter is @VABedfordHCS.
