LCWD puts Main St. well back on line after testing

Discolored water may result when well reactivated

The Lynnfield Center Water District, with the approval of the state Dept. of Environmental Protection, placed the Main St. pumping station well back in service on August 3. Following state and federal protocols, a series of samples were taken and all tested absent for Total Colifom and E-Coli. At no time was there any threat to the public health oir the drinking water system.

As a result of putting this well back on line, some customers in the Main St./Lowell St./Chestnut St./Apple Hill and North Hill area may experience discolored water as a result of significant flow changes in the area. The LCWD will try to minimize the impact on these areas by controlling start and stop times at the pumping stations.
