LYNNFIELD PLANNING BOARD MEETING December 11th, 2017

 

A joint meeting of the Planning Board and the Board of Selectmen was held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017, at the Al Merritt Media and Cultural Center, 600 Market Street.  The purpose of the meeting was to fill the Planning Board vacancy caused by the resignation of John Faria, Esq.  In attendance were Selectmen Christopher Barrett (Chairman), Richard Dalton and Phil Crawford, and Planning Board Members Brian Charville (Chairman), Charles Wills, Michael Sheehan and Scott Gromko.  Mr. Barrett announced that the meeting was being recorded and broadcast on public-access television.

 

Mr. Barrett called the joint meeting to order.  Mr. Dalton nominated Mr. Barrett as the chairman of the joint meeting.  Mr. Crawford seconded the nomination, and it carried 7-0.

 

Mr. Barrett asked John Gioioso, Anthony Guerriero and Katherine Flaws to step forward one at a time, speak to the boards, and take questions.  Each of them did so.  After Ms. Flaws stepped away from the lectern, Mr. Barrett asked if there was any discussion.  Mr. Charville commented that the applicants demonstrated the plethora of well-qualified volunteers available in the town and he observed that it would be a difficult vote to choose one among them.  Mr. Barrett proceeded to move that Ms. Flaws be chosen to fill the Planning Board vacancy, Mr. Dalton seconded the motion.  The motion carried 6-1, with the Ayes being Mr. Barrett, Mr. Dalton, Mr. Crawford, Mr. Charville, Mr. Sheehan and Mr. Gromko, and the Nay being Mr. Wills.  Mr. Barrett congratulated Ms. Flaws on her selection.  

 

Mr. Charville asked the Planning Board for a motion to ratify his written notice to the Selectmen regarding the vacancy and the need for a joint meeting.  Mr. Sheehan moved accordingly, Mr. Gromko seconded the motion, and it carried 4-0.

 

Mr. Barrett asked for a motion to adjourn the joint session.  Mr. Dalton made the motion to adjourn, Mr. Charville seconded it, and it carried 7-0.
