Chair Connell called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

 

  1. Recommendation on warrant articles 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 12

Article 1 is the payment of overdue bills. Town Accountant Julie McCarthy has compiled the list, which appears in the town meeting handout.

 

MOTION by Mr. Dalton, duly seconded by Mr. Crawford: I move that the Board recommend passage of Article 1 as printed in the handout. Vote was unanimous.

 

Article 2 is the transfers within the current fiscal year budget.

 

MOTION by Mr. Dalton, duly seconded by Mr. Crawford: I move that the Board recommend passage of Article 2 as printed in the handout. Vote was unanimous.

 

The Board of Health has decided that Article 4 requires more study and is recommending no action on it at this time.

 

MOTION by Mr. Dalton, duly seconded by Mr. Crawford: I move that the Board reconsider its vote to recommend passage of Article 4. Vote was unanimous.

 

MOTION by Mr. Dalton, duly seconded by Mr. Crawford: I move that the Board recommend indefinite postponement of Article 4.

 

Article 8 is the golf clubhouse article.

 

MOTION by Mr. Dalton, duly seconded by Mr. Crawford: I move that the Board recommend passage of Article 8 with an appropriation of $300,000 from Golf Retained Earnings. Vote was unanimous.

 

Article 9 is the purchase of the historical preservation deed restriction on the Kimball property at 618 Main Street.

 

MOTION by Mr. Dalton, duly seconded by Mr. Crawford: I move that the Board vote to recommend passage of Article 9 with an appropriation of $300,000 from the Sale of Real Estate account. Vote was unanimous.

 

Article 12 is the purchase of the property at 1005 Summer Street. The independent appraise reached a value of $740,000 on the property, which is for sale for $750,000. The property owner has indicated a willingness to sell the land to the Town at that price. The Town will also incur some expenses related to the property if purchased.

 

MOTION by Mr. Dalton, duly seconded by Mr. Crawford: I move that the Board vote to recommend passage of Article 12 with an appropriation of $800,000 from the Sale of Real Estate Account. Vote was unanimous.

 

 

2.         Review other warrant articles if necessary

No additional action is required at this time.

 

MOTION by Mr. Dalton, duly seconded by Mr. Crawford: I move that the Board remain in session during Town Meeting and adjourn at the conclusion of Town Meeting. Vote was unanimous.

 

The Board’s session ended at 5:34 p.m. with no additional action taken at Town Meeting.
