Art-in-Bloom 2023 opened at the Lynnfield Public Library April 3. The Village Home & Garden Club of Lynnfield, Lynnfield Art Guild, Lynnfield High School and Lynnfield Public Library collaborate each year for this successful event that welcomes Spring to the community.

For one week, Art-in-Bloom displays the stunning creativity of floral designers who interpret works of art from members of the Lynnfield Art Guild and Lynnfield High School art students.

“Blue Heron” was submitted by Art Guild member and photographer Cathy Grassello. It captivates the viewer with its color, lighting and mood. This photo was taken on the shoreline of Lynnfield’s famed Reedy Meadow, a sanctuary for numerous bird and wildlife species.

Artist Grassello notes “Nature and wildlife inspire me. And, when it serves up a gift like this scene, I could not be more grateful.” Grassello teamed with Village Home & Garden Club member Inta Brazelis-Simeone. Simeone interpreted “Blue Heron” with an arrangement that included florals;  stockflower, purple trachelium, israeli ruscus and green ball, and plants; orchid, carpet moss, pink lady turtle vine and pilea aquamarine.

Simeone adds, “When I saw the photo, I wanted to be there; in that cool, tranquil place: in that moment - just like the blue heron. Knowing that this spot exists, and only a stone's throw away, I am counting the days 'til that first warm summery day to make my way there.”
