On Friday, April 22 come celebrate Earth Day with the Lynnfield Tree Committee with a FAMILY DISCOVERY WALK and tree planting in historic Lynnfield Center from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

We will gather at the Pope Richard Lynnfield Historical Center on South Common Street to begin our walk to the nearby historic cemetery and Commons. Along the way committee members will highlight the role trees play in our environment, locally and worldwide. The Walk is appropriate for all ages and will include an interactive Scavenger Hunt and Bark Rub activity for children of all ages.

On the return, the committee will plant a tree and distribute tree seedlings for you to plant in your own yard. This seedling is a Baldcypress, a native deciduous conifer. One of only a few conifers that drop their needles for the winter, it has attractive reddish-brown fall foliage. It is more commonly seen at the edge of water, and is highly adaptable to many growing conditions except very dry areas. This tree will add much needed diversity to Lynnfield’s landscape.

Join in and discover what Nature has to offer as we celebrate the importance of Earth Day.
