Lynnfield, Mass. – February 15, 2022 -  The Conservation Commission unanimously approved Lynnfield eagle scout candidate Dan West’s proposal to build a low walking bridge on a segment of Bow Ridge Trail that crosses a wetland stream as well as improve trail blazing within the Bow Ridge Conservation area.

In his proposal, West outlined the specifics of his project’s purpose, which was to improve hiking access to Bow Ridge and other trails by remedying a particularly vulnerable portion of the trail which can often become flooded after rainstorms and therefore more difficult to navigate.  He included photos of the existing area where planks had been placed as a temporary means of securing a path.  West recommended a removal of the planks and a newly constructed bridge that would allow for more reliable access.

West also requested to improve some of the trail signage by mapping and color-coding trail markers, so that hikers could more easily understand and follow trails of interest.

The Conservation Commission noted that the proposed bridge would be similar in design to others previously built in the Lynn Woods area, and that signage improvements would remain consistent in design and materials used.   The approved proposal is set to begin in late winter/early spring 2022.
