Conservation Commission to hold joint meeting with LCWD October 30

Presentation and discussion regarding passive recreation on water district lands

The Conservation Commission and its Open Space & Recreation’s WORKING GROUP will hold a joint meeting with the Lynnfield Center Water District (LCWD) on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 7:00pm at the Al Merritt Center, 600 MarketStreet.

The focus of this meeting will be a presentation and discussion regarding the approval from the LCWD to permit passive recreation on water district lands throughout the town, with a focus on Willis Woods and Beaver Dam Brook Reservation.

Willis Woods is identified as the more than 600 acres in north Lynnfield, that is mostly owned by LCWD. In November 2021, the Select Board voted to purchase the abutting 21 acres of undeveloped forested land formally known as Richardson Green. It then assigned the property to Greenbelt, and approved a Conservation Restriction for the land so that it would be retained for passive recreation purposes in perpetuity.

The Beaver Dam Brook open space area is located in the very center of town and consists of Conservation Commission property and lands held by the LCWD.

The public is encouraged to attend this meeting to understand the Conservation Commission’s draft proposal to develop a network of passive recreational trails.
