LHS Students showcase the Importance of Trees

Project focuses on Carbon Sequestration
Trees for a change

"Trees for a Change" was one of the student-led Civics Action Projects showcased at the high school on March 13, 2024. The project centered around the importance of trees for climate resiliency through the natural process of carbon sequestration.

Launched in 2018 by the Mass Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Civics Action Projects at LHS are part of the Social Studies curriculum for all sophomores. Students form small teams to advocate for a specific change in addressing a problem they have identified in their community. The projects involve research, development of an action plan to address needs and presentation of project findings to the community.
