Emilie Cademartori, Director of Planning & Conservation, was invited to present at the PIE-Rivers Partnership (Parker, Ipswich and Essex Rivers watersheds) annual meeting December 2. The PIE Rivers  Partnership includes 29 North Shore communities that work to protect, restore and increase the resiliency of the Parker, Ipswich and Essex River watersheds.

Cademartori presented Lynnfield’s recent endeavors to conserve critical open space in the Ipswich River watershed. Efforts have included a $1.6 million grant from the state's Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program to protect land adjacent to the Lynnfield’s water supply, as well as a technical assistance grant that brings together several PIE-Rivers Partners, four communities, and residents to create a larger vision for watershed protection and passive recreation opportunities on undeveloped forested lands.

Michelle Rowden, Northeast Regional Coordinator for the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program, MA Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, added “this project shows the benefits to the community and the larger region which is exactly the type of project we’re looking for – those having the highest level of climate resilience for the greatest number of people. Good job, Lynnfield.”
