April 4th, 2022 - Girl Scout Troop 82559 is set to begin work on Beaverdam Brook trails as part of a restoration community service project for the Conservation Commission.  Led by Troop Co-Leaders Lesley Yamaki and Diane Courtney, the eighth-grade Scouts will focus on cleaning up Beaverdam Brook's existing trails of debris and overgrowth so that paths can be easily identified and traversed by hikers and visitors alike.

Courtney said of the project, “The girls are excited to begin working on this project.  They are learning about Lynnfield’s natural resources and conservation areas and the importance of preserving and maintaining them for generations to come.”

Conservation Commission member K. Erin Hohmann will serve as an advisor to the project, overseeing the Troop’s plans and updating the Board with their progress.

Hohmann shared, “This is a great opportunity to cultivate awareness, appreciation, and stewardship amongst youths who will inherit bucolic treasures like Beaverdam Brook.  The Conservation Commission is always proud to support community efforts to restore and protect our conservation areas.”

The project is anticipated to take 6-8 weeks to complete, finishing late spring 2022.
