You’re invited! Join the Lynnfield Tree Committee to celebrate Arbor Day with a tree planting at Town Hall and Meet The Lorax. At 10 a.m., Saturday, May 1, there will be a reading of the proclamation and then a Tulip Tree will be added to Lynnfield’s future tree canopy. Attendees can take a White Spruce tree seedling home for planting in their own yard.

This new tree is only one of many trees to be planted in Lynnfield this year. Trees provide us with more than just clean air; they also cool our homes, lower winter heating costs, and provide food for wildlife. The Tulip Tree, Liriodendron tulipifera, is a native with many benefits to our ecosystem. As a host plant for caterpillars and butterflies, these insects serve as a food source and pollinators to support wildlife - in return they support the tree of life. Learn more about this tree and others that might be appropriate to plant in your yard at our website, lynnfieldtreecommittee.org.

The Tree Committee’s 1000 Trees Project is a step forward for everyone to recognize that all of us have a responsibility to the next generation by planting trees and changing our relationship with Nature. Bring the story of Nature closer to home and Meet The Lorax on Saturday. But like in The Lorax, Lynnfield will plant more trees.  “Plant a new Truffula. Treat it with care. Give it clean water. And feed it fresh air. Protect it from axes that hack. Then the Lorax and all of his friends may come back.”
