The Planning & Conservation Department participated at the Massachusetts Open Space Conference April 27, 2019. A sub-committee of the Department, Lynnfield's Open Space Committee is now updating its 2010 Open Space Plan and preparing for its submission to the State for approval. An approved Open Space & Recreation Plan allows cities and towns to apply for and receive grant funding from the State for local open space projects.

In addition to sessions on initiating and renewing Open Space plans, the Conference also featured relevant topics such as "Accessing Grants for Land Protection, "Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Funding Programs", "Landowner Outreach for Preservation" and "Planning Resilient Trails", among others.
