Students highlight community benefits and advocate for trail completion
Rail trail - Civics Action Project 2024

Lynnfield’s Rail Trail project was one of the student-led Civics Action Projects showcased at the high school on March 13, 2024. Students researched the history of the Rail Trail project, investigated the individual and community-wide benefits, and advocated for the timely completion of the Rail Trail in their presentation.

Launched in 2018 by the Mass Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Civics Action Projects at LHS are part of the Social Studies curriculum for all sophomores. Students form small teams to advocate for a specific change in addressing a problem they have identified in their community. The projects involve research, development of an action plan to address needs and presentation of project findings to the community.
